Terms & Conditions
IKEA Gift List is a service addressed exclusively to adult natural persons who are IKEA’s customers.
Natural persons-IKEA Customers who have an active user account at www.ikea.gr e-shop will be able to create one or more Gift Lists per Event, for instance for a wedding, baptism, milestone birthday etc. (“Event”) through his/her personal user account at www.ikea.gr.
IKEA Gift List may include only monetary amounts and will be active for a period of three (3) years from its creation, which corresponding to the time of validity of the digital debit Card issued for the amount accumulated in the Gift List.
In the framework of the Gift List, a digital debit Card (hereinafter the “Card”) is issued at the request of the customer (“Cardholder”) who wishes to create a Gift List linked to an Event. The Card is issued by VIVA PAYMENT SERVICES Single Member S.A. («VIVA PAYMENTS»), a licensed e-money institution registered in Greece with registration number 1, regulated by the Bank of Greece in accordance with the provisions of L. 4021/2011, with its registered offices at 18-20 Amarousiou- Chalandriou street, Marousi, Athens Greece, having Tax Identification number EL997671771.
VIVA PAYMENTS issues the Card after the Cardholder completes the form on the relevant webpage “IKEA Gift List” at www.ikea.gr. The issuance of the card is free of charge for the Cardholder. VIVA PAYMENTS reserves the right to reject the Cardholder's request for the issuance of a card for reasons that it will communicate to the Applicant-Cardholder. VIVA PAYMENTS may request from the Cardholder documents and data that it deems necessary for the identification of the Cardholder in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework and its policy.
Upon the Cardholder’s request acceptance, VIVA PAYMENTS will be sending an SMS notification and an Email with instructions to the Cardholder for creating a password for Viva Wallet application. Through Viva Wallet application, Cardholders shall be able to obtain access to their card details, review their available balance in real-time, and have access to full transaction history.
Upon issuing the card, VIVA PAYMENTS provides the Cardholder with a Personal Identification Number of the card (hereinafter referred to as "PIN"), which is generated automatically in security conditions and which is communicated to the Cardholder in a special field within the electronic environment of the Viva Wallet application, to which the Cardholder has exclusive access through the personal authentication and access codes and passwords created during the issuance of the card.
The PIN is strictly personal, it is used only in combination with the specific Card and the Cardholder must memorize the PIN, keep it secret, not record it in any form whatsoever in any medium held along with the Card and take every appropriate measure to avoid any PIN leak. VIVA PAYMENTS will never ask the Cardholder to disclose his Card’s PIN for any reason whatsoever.
The Cardholder will be the Card’s legitimate owner and user. Cards will be available for use from the moment it is issued until the amount of money it contains is exhausted or until its expiry date. The validity of the card cannot be extended or renewed and any remaining amount upon its expiry will be lost.
The mobile phone number is uniquely linked to each customer and constitutes his/her username to log in to the VIVA PAYMENTS applications, to get access to the Gift List/Lists and the Card.
The card issued to the Cardholder by VIVA PAYMENTS is credited with amounts contributed as a "gift" by visitors to the Event ("Contributors") through the IKEA website.
Anyone can contribute money to the Gift List, either as a registered user of IKEA.gr or as a visitor, as long as they have legal capacity. If the Contributor also has an IKEA Family card, he will also receive the points corresponding to the value of his deposit.
Smart-Checkout will offer the Contributor all supported payment methods (credit/debit cards, IBAN transfers, Apple/Google Pay, etc.)
Every Gift List is linked to a unique event reference ID number. Anyone who wishes to contribute money to the Gift List must know this ID number. Deposits of funds into a Gift List will be allowed up to one month after the designated date of the Event for which the Gift List was opened. The amount accumulated on the card may be used until the card expires, i.e. for a period of three (3) years from the date of its issuance.
The Card may be used exclusively for purchases at the IKEA physical stores in Greece or IKEA’s e-shop at www.ikea.gr. The Card cannot be used for purchases at other commercial institutions or for transfer and withdrawal of money.
When the Cardholder uses the Card as a payment method for purchases at IKEA’s e-shop, the purchase transaction is completed in VIVA PAYMENTS’ digital environment. IKEA will notify the Cardholder of the contributions. Through the user account, the Cardholder may review his real-time available balance linked to the Gift Card.
In case of a product return, any Card’s amount used cannot be returned and any purchases made with the use of the Card cannot be refunded nor be redeemed for cash. In such a case, IKEA will provide the Cardholder with a gift card of equal value to the amount of the returned product.
The card is not transferable by the Cardholder. The Cardholder must take appropriate measures to prevent and avoid any unauthorized use of the Card.
This Card agreement and the Card is valid for three years. If this agreement is cancelled in any way, the Card will be cancelled. The use of the Card after its expiry is not possible and is absolutely prohibited. After the expiration of the Card, any unused balance is not returned to the Cardholder, who retains no claim against VIVA PAYMENTS and/or IKEA for its return.
VIVA PAYMENTS reserves the right to suspend the operation of the Card for objectively justified reasons related to the security of its use.
The Cardholder is obliged to safeguard the card, its details, the PIN and the codes for personalized entry and access to his/her account and to ensure that they are not leaked to third parties.
In the event of Card details leak or, in the event that the Cardholder becomes aware of any unauthorized access or/and use of the Card, as well as of any loss, theft or fraud related to the Card or of its authentication details for its access and use, VIVA PAYMENTS must immediately and without undue delay be notified in the following manner: via e-mail at support@vivapayments.com or by phone at +30211 7604 000 (option 2). Failure to notify VIVA PAYMENTS constitutes gross negligence of the Cardholder.
All of these Terms are agreed material. VIVA PAYMENTS may unilaterally amend these Terms for material reason, notifying the Cardholder accordingly. VIVA PAYMENTS may unilaterally and without observing any deadline terminate the agreement for the provision of the Card and immediately cancel the latter, if the Cardholder is in breach of the applicable legislation or/and these Terms.
The transactional relationship of VIVA PAYMENTS and the Cardholder regarding the use of the Card, which is governed by these Terms, is governed by the Greek Law. Any relevant dispute between VIVA PAYMENTS and the Cardholder that relates to the specific transactional relationship is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Athens.
Cardholder’s personal data processing:
Τhe collection and processing of the Cardholder’s personal data is necessary for the purposes of the Gift List service.
IKEA as a Data Controller of the Gift List service processes personal data of the Cardholder- registered user of IKEA.gr for the purposes of providing the Gift List service.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data collected for the purposes of providing the Gift List service is the performance of the contract regarding the Gift List service or in order to take steps prior to entering into the contract which is not possible without the processing of the following personal data.
IKEA warrants that is fully compliant with the applicable data protection legislation (the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, L. 4624/2019) and guarantee that it has implemented all appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure protection of the personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction or loss (including accidental events), alteration, unlawful disclosure or access. For the purposes of the performance of the contract regarding the Gift List service, VIVA PAYMENTS issues a digital debit Card of equal value to the total amount aggregated in the Gift List. Within this framework, VIVA PAYMENTS acts as a Data Processor. For the purposes of issuing a digital debit Card, VIVA PAYMENTS, as a Data Processor, may obtain access to the following types of personal data:
Name, surname, mobile phone number, e-mail address. IKEA also transfers to VIVA PAYMENTS the Gift List reference ID. The Cardholder's name and surname will appear on the Viva card. The unique event reference ID will appear on the online account linked to the card.
VIVA PAYMENTS shall only process IKEA Customers’ personal data for the purposes of providing the Gift List service, i.e. issuing the debit card for purchases at IKEA physical stores in Greece or IKEA’s e-shop at www.ikea.gr. VIVA PAYMENTS shall not process these personal data for its own commercial or other purposes beyond the purposes of complying with regulatory obligations (such as AML/KYC controls, "due diligence" requirements mandated by the legislation applicable to Financial Institutions etc.).
VIVA PAYMENTS acts as an independent Data Controller regarding the processing of the Cardholders’ personal data concerning creditworthiness, checks and approval of Cardholders’ application, issuance of the digital debit cards, AML/KYC controls, payment and related transactions clearance, in accordance with the requirements and regulatory obligations mandated by the legislation applicable to Financial Institutions. In case of Customer’s ineligibility under the "due diligence" criteria of the applicable legislation (L. 4557/2018, Bank of Greece Decisions), VIVA PAYMENTS may refuse the issuance of a digital debit card or cancel an already issued digital debit card. The additional data required by VIVA PAYMENTS for the above procedures are: the Cardholder’s date of birth and the city of birth∙ VIVA PAYMENTS processes these personal data in accordance with the regulatory obligations mandated by the legislation applicable to Financial Institutions.
VIVA PAYMENTS collects, maintains a record and processes Cardholder’s personal data according to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and the applicable Greek laws, as in force, including also any recorded conversations. Data Controller for the record maintained is VIVA PAYMENTS, in accordance with article 4, par. 7 of the GDPR. The data related to the Cardholder are collected based on the information he/she provides and according to the requirements of the applicable legislation or ad hoc and from independent third-party sources where such data have lawfully been published. The data and information collected are processed for the exclusive purpose of the provision and use of the Card requested by the Cardholder. The Cardholder has the right of information, access, rectification, objection, opposition, data portability and non-automated processing, with respect to his/her personal data kept by VIVA PAYMENTS according to the applicable legislation. VIVA PAYMENTS may transfer the data and the information collected to third parties, acting as Data Processors, under article 4, par. 8 of the GDPR, to the extend it is required for the completion of the services provided that are described in the present Terms & Conditions. Also, the Cardholder is informed that his/her personal data and the content of the communication between him/her and VIVA PAYMENTS may be disclosed to Organizations, Merchants and financial institutions that are involved in the provision of the services related to the issuance and use of the Card for the provision of the services and the performance of this agreement. The collection, processing and transfer of personal data are necessary for the provision of the services, otherwise VIVA PAYMENTS will not be able to provide the services. VIVA PAYMENTS must retain the data of the Cardholders and of the Transactions which are attempted and/or completed via its systems for the minimum periods provided by the applicable legislation as in force from time to time. VIVA PAYMENTS may provide access to third parties, such as prosecution and enforcement authorities, subject to the applicable laws.
Processing of Contributor’s personal data:
Τhe collection and processing of the Contributor’s personal data is necessary for the purposes of the Gift List service.
IKEA as a Data Controller of the Gift List service collects and processes the following personal data of the Contributor’s for the purposes of providing the Gift List service: name, surname, e-mail address, mobile phone number, the amount of contribution and personal data that may be contained in the message to the Cardholder.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data collected for the purposes of providing the Gift List service is the performance of the contract regarding the Gift List service or in order to take steps prior to entering into the contract which is not possible without the processing of these personal data.

For the purposes of the performance of the contributions to the Gift List service, IKEA transmits to VIVA PAYMENTS the following personal data: name, surname, e-mail address and the amount of contribution. The Contributor is transferred in the secure environment of the cooperating company VIVA PAYMENTS which manages the payments. Within this context, VIVA PAYMENTS is acting as an independent Data Controller. VIVA PAYMENTS shall maintain data of the Transactions attempted and/or executed through its systems in accordance with regulatory obligations mandated by the legislation applicable and its policies.
