Self-storing butterfly extension leaf. The hidden leaf easily extends seating from 4 to 6 in seconds, with only one pair of hands needed.
Designed for a perfect match with SKANSNÄS chairs. LUSTEBO and LILLÅNÄS chairs, or GRÖNSTA chair with armrests are also good matches with different style expressions.

”In the work with SKANSNÄS, I did a deep dive into our IKEA archive and drew inspiration from tables and chairs from the 1950s and 60s, which was a golden age for Scandinavian design. I like the simple and soft shapes and the natural materials they used. Materials that are beautiful from the start and develop a nice patina over time. I brought all of that with me, but I also wanted to add new knowledge about ergonomics and techniques to make furniture that suits our time.”

The 1950s and 60s were a real golden age in Scandinavian design history. For the tables and chairs in the SKANSNÄS series, we drew inspiration from the treasures in our own IKEA archive. But we made sure to add comfort and flexibility that suits today’s lifestyles. The result is a comfortable chair, and tables you easily extend in a matter of seconds, made so you can relax and enjoy small and large dinner parties for many years to come.
